Effect of HNT on the microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties of Al/FA-CS-HNT composites produced by GPI
Abstract
Rising demands on an efficient reuse of waste materials to increase the energy efficiency urges the development of complex recycling chains for numerous industrial side products. Elaboration of the method to create composite product with high mechanical properties from the wastes or side products of another industry can be a ground-breaking solution leading towards the renewability and having an indisputable input in the environmental protection. This paper reveals the influence of HNT addition on the microstructure (analysis by computed tomography (CT) and scanning electron microscopy combined with energy-dispersive xray spectroscopy), thermal properties (thermal expansion coefficient, TC and specific heat) and the mechanical properties (hardness and compression test) of manufactured Al/FACS-HNT composites.
