Thermo-visual camera used for the evaluation of the drying time in the production of casting dies
Abstract
Multilayer ceramic shell molds constitute the crucial issue in the investment casting process. They are used for casting complicated demanding parts intended for the aviation industry. The molds are produced by cyclic dipping in a ceramic slurry which is composed of an aqueous binder and a ceramic filler. From the point of view of optimization of the manufacturing process of ceramic shell molds it is necessary to control the dehydration of each of their layers. In order to determine the rate of dehydration, a thermo-vision camera was used and the time of drying the constructional layer was evaluated.
