Micro-macro model for prediction of local temperature and concentration distribution in two-phase media
Abstract
Heat flow in heterogeneous media with complex microstructure follows tortuous path and thereforedetermination of temperature or species concentration distributions is a challenging task. The micromacromodel of transient heat conduction and species diffusion with phase change in such media wasconsidered in the paper. A relation between temperature (concentration) distributions on themicroscopic level, i.e., on the level of details of microstructure, and the temperature (concentration)distribution on the macroscopic level, i.e., on the level where the properties were homogenized andtreated as effective, was derived. The first approximation of the relation, known as the two-scalemodel corresponding to significant separation of scales was considered in detail. The limit ofapplication of the proposed two-scale micro-macro model was considered in transient states of heattransfer. An example of retrieving microscopic temperature distribution from the macroscopic oneswere presented, in which heat conduction in a composite with the fixed microstructure was analyzed.
