Polymer-cement Mortar s with Improved Adhesion to Concrete Substrates
Abstract
The paper deals with polymer-cement composites (PCC) with improved adhesion tothe concrete substrates. The influence of polymers on the microstructure of thecomposite is discussed. Onthe base of the selectiontests, the polyacrylic ester (PAE) dispersion was chosen as the most promising polymer modifier. The exper-iment was carried out using the statistical design of experiment. Material model of the polymer-cement mor-tar was developed and material optimisation was performed using overall desirability concept. PAE-modi-fied mortar of the optimised composition has excellent bond strength tothe concrete substrate and very goodvalues of other important properties. The statistical analysis of the modelmakes possible to evaluate the syn-ergic effects and the significance of the particular components of the mixed binder for the bond strength. Some general conclusions about the future needs in this research field are also formulated.
