Strain relaxation and grain growth in 316LVM stainless steel annealed under pressure
Abstract
icrostructure evolution of nanostructured 316LVM austenitic stainless steel annealed under high pressure was examined by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The samples were produced by hydrostatic extrusion at room temperature and then subjected to heat treatment either pressureless or under high hydrostatic pressures. Hydroextrusion processing resulted in nano-scale structure with strong uniaxial texture and considerable residual stress. Further treatment lead to the simultaneous strain relaxation and grain growth. Effects of temperature and the pressure applied on those effects have been discussed.
