Abstract
The aim of the present study was to determine the mechanical properties of bones. For this purpose, an ultrasonic method was used to determine acoustic parameters such as the longitudinal and transversal celerities. Waves propagating through bovine femoral bones were studied and the Young's modulus E and Poisson's ratio v were deduced.
