Obtaining PP/PET polymer blends and investigation of mechanical properties
Abstract
In this project polymeric blends of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) were obtained, with and without compatibility, and their properties were investigated. Firstly the characterization of pure PP and PET materials was performed by melt flow index (MFI) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) tests. Then, the blends were produced by processing in a torque rheometer in several compositions. Capillary rheometry analyzes were performed to assess the viscoelastic properties of the blends. And for the characterization of the thermo-dynamicmechanical properties of the processed blends, DMTA tests were performed. The results generated were analyzed to verify the characteristics of these blends aiming at their use as polymeric fibers.
