Projection Moiré profilometry simulation software for algorithm validation and setup optimalisation
Abstract
Moiré profilometry is a technique that can be used to scan a 3D object to obtain the corresponding CAD model. This has proven its importance in reverse engineering and quality control. However, the accuracy of projection Moiré profilometry depends strongly on the setup and the used processing algorithms. This article presents custom-made freewaresoftware, capable of simulatingthe results of different possible setups, using both telecentric and diverging lenses. A sinusoidal fringe pattern or custom projection patterns can be projected virtually onto a complex three-dimensional model. This software enables to validate algorithms faster by generating different data sets semi-automatically, without the need to build and calibrate a real measurement setup. Using this program, algorithms can be validated more thoroughly and the overall development process is speed up.
