Towards printed electronic devices. Large-scale processing methods for conducting polyaniline
Abstract
In this work, five different patterning methods weredeveloped to demonstrate the processing possibilities ofpolyaniline (PANI). Two different dopants, camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) and dodecylbenzenesulfonicacid (DBSA), were used to achieve PANI with highelectrical conductivity that was soluble in varioussolvents. These solutions were used as printing inks inthe processing.PANI was used in step-by-step methods such as UVlithography and nanoimprinting lithography (NIL). Thecontinuous methods used were rotogravure printing(GRAVURE), flexographic printing (FLEXO) and roll-to-rollnanoimprinting lithography (rrNIL). Dimensions from thesubmicrometre to the millimetre scale were demonstratedin both processing routes. The functionality of PANIwithin the studied methods is compared and problems inscaling up to high-volume manufacturing are discussed.
