Influence of Normalizing Conditions on Electrical Steel Texture Development
Abstract
<p>Electrical steel manufacture requires the control of the crystallographic orientations of grains and microstructures in order to improve their magnetic properties. In the current study the influence of normalizing conditions on the development of normalizing, cold rolling and recrystallization textures of hot rolled grain oriented electrical steel was investigated after each processing step. The results show that the intensity of the {112}<110> texture component increased after normalizing the hot rolled steel and continued to increase during cold rolling. It is shown that the normalizing time has a pronounced influence on increasing the {112}<110> and {001}<110> texture component intensities. Orientation data from EBSD were used to evaluate the orientation-dependent stored energy of deformed grains after hot rolling. Furthermore, it was found that the majority of Goss oriented grains in the hot rolled steel were surrounded by the high Taylor factor value grains.</p>
