Implementation of a continuum damage model for creep fracture and fatigue analyses to ANSYS
Abstract
This paper discusses the USERMAT implementation of a thermodynamically consistent model for creep and creep-damage analysis in the ANSYS finite element software. The model is based on two thermodynamic potentials, the Helmholtz free energy and the complementary form of the dissipation potential and it can be proven to fullfil the dissipation inequality. Examples on creep fatigue analysis of steam boiler superheater made of T24 steel and operating within a temperature range from 500 to 600 celcius are presented.
