Enable the powder metallurgy process to expand to new markets with more reliable parts and lower manufacturing costs through the inspection of green parts
Abstract
<p>The aim of this paper is to present a project with the goal to develop a fast and reliable inspection tool based on digital radiography for the inspection of green parts. The developed tool will be aimed at SMEs where "real time" inspection will save vital resources. The project is funded by the European Commission under the "Research for the benefit of SMEs" call as part of FP7. The project is about the development of a digital x-ray machine to detect defects in green parts. Such system has never been attempted before. This paper describes the status of the complete development which includes the mechanical system, the digital radiography part, the control system and the defect analysis software. The project is due to finish on the 31st of September 2014.</p>
