The Materials Map is an open tool for improving networking and interdisciplinary exchange within materials research. It enables cross-database search for cooperation and network partners and discovering of the research landscape.

The dashboard provides detailed information about the selected scientist, e.g. publications. The dashboard can be filtered and shows the relationship to co-authors in different diagrams. In addition, a link is provided to find contact information.

Materials Map under construction

The Materials Map is still under development. In its current state, it is only based on one single data source and, thus, incomplete and contains duplicates. We are working on incorporating new open data sources like ORCID to improve the quality and the timeliness of our data. We will update Materials Map as soon as possible and kindly ask for your patience.

Abstract

The catalytic performances of CaO was studied during the methanolysis of waste frying oil (WFO) to evaluate the viability of using basic heterogeneous catalysts to produce biodiesel from low value raw materials. A semi-refined oil (rape seed) realized 97% of FAME yield while WFO allowed 87.2%. The water content of WFO had a null effect on the FAME yield but increased the soaps formed. The use of the same catalyst sample in two consecutive batches without intermediate regeneration showed a small loss of activity mainly due to partial amorphization of the catalyst. CaO catalysts could be used to produces biodiesel from low value acid raw materials. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the CHISA 2012 - 20th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering and PRES 2012 - 15th Conference PRES (Prague, Czech Republic 8/25-29/2012).
