The Materials Map is an open tool for improving networking and interdisciplinary exchange within materials research. It enables cross-database search for cooperation and network partners and discovering of the research landscape.

The dashboard provides detailed information about the selected scientist, e.g. publications. The dashboard can be filtered and shows the relationship to co-authors in different diagrams. In addition, a link is provided to find contact information.

Materials Map under construction

The Materials Map is still under development. In its current state, it is only based on one single data source and, thus, incomplete and contains duplicates. We are working on incorporating new open data sources like ORCID to improve the quality and the timeliness of our data. We will update Materials Map as soon as possible and kindly ask for your patience.

Análisis de la falla ocurrida por esfuerzos de contacto en el eje-piñón de baja velocidad en el reductor de una extrusora de plástico

Abstract

The present work corresponds to the failure analysis of low speed pinion in the reducer of a plastic machine. The flanks of the teeth that are in contact presented pitting, cracks and loosening of material. The final fracture of the shaft in the zone of the key seat presented beach marks. The metallography analysis presented evidence of cracks that propagate from the zones of pitting. The contact stress was calculated in the gears, using three models: analytical, estimator and numerical, which were compared with the permissible contact stress of the material. In the system were found high stresses, which are alarming specially for the case of the pinion failed, which are associated of direct way with the entrance of power of the same one, to the being this one the most influential variable in the distribution of loads within the reducer.
