Filling carbon nanopipes with functional nanoparticles
Abstract
A method is presented for the fabrication of functional nanomaterials. Carbon nanopipes are filled with nanoparticles of Au or with magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The C nanopipes were prepd. by noncatalytic CVD using com. Al2O3 membranes as the templates. To fill the nanopipes with magnetic nanoparticles, com. available ferrofluids were used. For the filling of the nanopipes with Au particles, a stable colloid had to be developed in which the agglomeration of the Au particles is hindered. The microstructure of the samples was characterized by high-resoln. TEM. Possible applications of the functional nanomaterials are discussed.
