Solution Volume Effect
Abstract
The external surface of the upper part of the production tubing in a well completion is usually wetted by vapour from condensation due to difference in temperature between produced fluid (in the tubing) and the production annulus environment. In small scale tests cold worked super duplex stainless steel mini pipes were subjected to combined load (axial tension and internal pressure) at 90 oC in small solution volume of ammonium bisulphite at various concentration (0, 100 and 500 ppmw) and 3.5 wt% NaCl environment. The addition of 100 ppmw ammonium bisulphite to 3.5 wt% NaCl resulted in a decrease in pitting resistance.
