Experimental researches concerning the properties of biodegradables lubricants
Abstract
The rheological properties of two bio-degradables lubricants (Rapeseed oil in pure state and additivated with Fatty acid) were investigated using shear viscosity rheological measurements. It was found that the lubricants do not exhibit a yield stress and that, above a critical shear rate, they exhibit shearthinning behaviour, well described by the Cross model. Supplementary tests have been made, regarding the thermal behaviour of the lubricants. Three thermal models have been assumed, in order to determine the variation of the viscosity with the temperature, for both lubricants.
