Modeling of Eddy Currents in Highly Anisotropic CFRP Materials
Abstract
Composite materials are increasingly used in industrial applications such as medical, automotive, aeronautical, nautical, space and military purposes. Electromagnetic induction welding of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites is a promising solution for a large-scale development of complex structures like fuselage. In order to make the process more generic and efficient, a fine understanding of the eddy currents flow in the composites is necessary. This paper presents a study of all different mechanisms of the currents circulation in CFRP.
