The computational analysis of composite laminates: Meshless formulation
Abstract
Composite laminated materials are very popular in the aeronautic industry due to their high strength/weight ratio. This chapter introduces and explains with detail the analysis of composite laminated plates using advanced discretization meshless techniques. First, an extensive review of the meshless methods formulation is presented. Then, the displacement field of the plate is shown, which is defined by an equivalent single layer theory - the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT). Afterwards, the FSDT is extended to the meshless formulation using the weak formulation of Galerkin. In the end, composite laminates are analysed numerically, and the results are compared with exact solution and discussed. © 2017 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
