Passivation of Crystalline Perovskite Semiconductors and the Impact on Solar Cell Performance
Abstract
Perovskite materials continue to generate significant interest from academia and industry as a potential component in next‐generation, high‐efficiency, low‐cost, photovoltaic (PV) devices with record efficiency reports for champion devices now more than 22%.Optimisation and improvement in device performance relies on design, morphology and crystal/defect chemistry of the perovskite, in addition to the structure and chemistry of selective contact materials used in cell fabrication (see Schematic). It is well known that for enhanced performance of PSCs, control of the perovskite crystal formation via deposition and annealing conditions has been the fundamental to improving device performance. This talk will introduce studies at the CSIRO Photovoltaic Research Laboratories (PVRL) on correlation of perovskite film formation, methodologies and materials. We outline preferred methods of film formation and structure-performance assessment for mixed-cation mixed-halide perovskite semiconductor films for state-of-the art high efficiency devices.
