Investigation on Mechanical Behaviour of Glass Fiber Reinforced with Banana Slacks and Coconut Coir
Abstract
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Natural fibers are increasingly being used to reinforce glass fiber compositesrather than synthetic fibers because of their increased tensile strength, despite some inherent disadvantages. With the help of the structural analysisprogram ANSYS, three different combinations were thoroughly analyzed with an eyetoward factors like total deformation, equivalent elastic strain, and equivalentstress in order to determine the best combination. The composite specimenexhibiting the best performance qualities was chosen for further manufacturing.A fracture load of 8.93 kN and a tensile strength of 81.46 MPa were obtainedfrom tensile strength tests and Charpy impact tests performed on samples madefrom the composite. The impact test, which produced a value of 14 J using a 15kg pendulum, also shed light on the ability to absorb energy during fracture. These results indicate that the composite material has qualities that make it agood choice for dashboards and panels for automobiles.</div></div>
