The ductile-to-brittle transition and the temperature and temporal stability of amorphous alloys
Abstract
The ductile-to-brittle transition of amorphous iron-based alloys is considered. A criterion of mechanical degradation (embrittlement) in the range of climatic temperatures is developed on its basis. Time intervals of the stability of some multicomponent iron-based quenched melt amorphous alloys of the metal–metalloid type are estimated. The proposed criterion of temperature and temporal stability is compared to an independently developed criterion based on measuring the relaxation spectra of heat generation.
