Epitaxial bilayer La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 thin films obtained by polymer assisted deposition
Abstract
<jats:p>In this work bilayer structures, composed of ferromagnetic manganite andferroelectric titanate layers, were obtained by solution depositiontechnique. The first step in preparation of the bilayer thin films wasdeposition of manganite (LaMnO3 or La0.7Sr0.3MnO3) layer by water-basedpolymer assisted deposition (PAD). Polycrystalline structures were obtainedwhen manganite films were deposited by spin coating on commercialPt/TiO2/SiO2/Si type substrate, whereas epitaxial films were grown on asingle crystal SrTiO3 with (001) orientation substrate. The secondferroelectric titanate (BaTiO3 or Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3) layer was deposited byspin coating using sol-gel method. The obtained bilayer structures havethickness below 100 nm, and epitaxial growth of the Ba0.7Sr0.3TiO3 film onthe La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 surface was obtained, due to the similar latticeparameters between these two crystal structures.</jats:p>
