Evaluating Automated Orientation Perforation Tools for Application to Breakdown Pressures, Sand Production and Orientation Error
Abstract
Abstract
The evaluation and testing of the impact of an Automated Orientation Tool, called the Accelerometer Orientation Tool, for perforation guns and oriented perforations is reviewed in this paper to establish the effect of the tool on breakdown pressures and initiation of stimulation. This AOT could be used to select optimum fracture stresses from petrophysical properties logs, and evaluate if this was a factor for success in fracture initiation, fracture propagation and proppant placement. The breakdown pressures, average fracture pressures, and flowback of proppant were all evaluated for two wells this tool was used on, and compared to the nearest offset wells. Further benefits from sand production mitigation was also reviewed and evaluated.
