High-pressure synthesis and crystal structure of HP-Al2B3O7(OH)
Abstract
<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Orthorhombic HP-Al<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>B<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>(OH) was synthesized in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus under high-pressure/high-temperature conditions of 12.4 GPa and 1200 °C, respectively. Its structure is isotypic to that of Ga<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>B<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>(OH) and has been determined <jats:italic>via</jats:italic> single-crystal X-ray diffraction at room temperature. HP-Al<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>B<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>(OH) crystallizes in the space group <jats:italic>Cmce</jats:italic> (<jats:italic>Z</jats:italic> = 8) with the lattice parameters <jats:italic>a</jats:italic> = 10.3124(4), <jats:italic>b</jats:italic> = 7.3313(3), <jats:italic>c</jats:italic> = 10.4801(5) Å, and <jats:italic>V</jats:italic> = 792.33(6) Å<jats:sup>3</jats:sup>. The compound has also been characterized by IR and Raman spectroscopy.</jats:p>
