Abstract

<p>When a composite structure sustains damage in service a number of repair levels must be employed owing to the severity. If the damage has weakened the structure through fibre fracture, delamination or disbonding, the repair will involve replacement of the damaged fibre reinforcement so as to restore the original mechanical properties. After having identified a need for structural repair, the next step would be to proceed with the selection of a repair methodology. The following article investigates the optimal repair motif-configuration along with the most appropriate repair methodology. The series of extensive experiments range from impact damage and subsequent repair, leading to mechanical testing and NDT assessment.</p>
