Corrosion behavior of titanium materials with an ultrafine-grained structure
Abstract

The effect of an ultrafine-grained structure (UFGS) in titanium materials, namely, commercial purity titanium and VT6 alloy, on their corrosion resistance is studied. The schedules of surface treatment by chemical or electrochemical polishing are chosen, and the behavior of the titanium materials in various aggressive media is investigated. It is shown that UFGS titanium and titanium alloy after surface treatment have higher corrosion resistance as compared to their coarse-grained state.
