Investigating the influence of surface hardness and energy on the perceived stickiness of polymer coatings.
Abstract
<p>This work is dedicated to the investigation of physical material properties and their influence on the sensation of stickiness. In order to study the physical properties of the investigated polymer coatings over a wider range, different binding agents and fillers were used to control the resulting physical and mechanical properties. The selected coatings were characterized with respect to hardness and surface free energy and their tactile effects were evaluated within experience studies. A correlation analysis of the measured properties revealed a clear influence of the physical properties on the perceived stickiness.</p>
