Impact of Fe2O3addition on the crystallization of Er3+doped fluorophosphate glasses
Abstract
We report a study on the development of novel oxyfluoride phosphate glasses which could be used for the fabrication of transparent glass-ceramic fibers. In order to increase the thermal stability of the glass in order to draw fiber from this glass, Fe2O3 was added in the phosphate network. We first discuss the impact of the changes in the glass composition on the thermal, optical, structural and luminescence properties of the glass. Then, the influence of Fe2O3 addition on the crystallization of the glasses is assessed with the aim to define a glass composition that can be processed into transparent glass-ceramic. ; Peer reviewed
