IoT Based Smart Sewerage Management System for Moradabad City
Abstract
Moradabad city is also known as “Brass City”. It is a city where lot of exports of Handicrafts is done. One positive aspect of having lot of local industries is the generation of huge sum of foreign exchange and thus Moradabad is considered a smart city, other aspect is that these industries are emitting lot of polluted air and industrial wastewater. The dirty water coming out of most of the local industries and houses of Moradabad city, Uttar Pradesh, India is going in Ramganga River (tributary of Ganga River) through drains. Because of this Ramganga is getting dirty. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has also expressed concern over these situations. The municipal administration though being seriously concerned is not able to solve this problem. The present work proposes an Internet of Things (IoT) based solution for monitoring as well as basic treatment of sewer water through smart material. The results show that by employing proposed model the problem of sewerage management can be improved by 30%. The solution is proposed specifically for Moradabad city however, it can be easily applied to other cities facing similar problems by tweaking the design of solution according to geography and location of the city.
