Design and optimization of dielectrically-loaded wideband waveguide polarizer
Abstract

We discuss the design and optimization of a dielectrically loaded wideband waveguide polarizer for Ku band applications. The selection of width and permittivity for dielectrics has been considered as a combinatorial mixed variable optimization problem. We used cross-entropy method to obtain the optimal set of permittivity and corresponding width of the dielectric, for which the polarizer gives almost constant differential phase shift within 90°± 0.5° from 10.9 GHz to 14.5 GHz and an axial ratio of 0.1dB. The length of the polarizer is reduced by almost 12%.
