SiO2-sheathed InS nanowires and SiO2 nanotubes

Abstract

<p>The synthesis of silica (SiO<sub>2</sub>)-sheathed InS nanowires and silica nanotubes was presented. The nanowires were synthesized by a physical vapor deposition process. The removal of InS cores from the prepared nanocables by thermal evaporation resulted in the formation of pure silica nanotubes. Strong visible-light emission peaked at 570 nm was shown by the photoluminescence measurements on the nanotubes.</p>
