Materials Map under construction

The Materials Map is still under development. In its current state, it is only based on one single data source and, thus, incomplete and contains duplicates. We are working on incorporating new open data sources like ORCID to improve the quality and the timeliness of our data. We will update Materials Map as soon as possible and kindly ask for your patience.

Preparation of multifunctional cascade iron oxide nanoparticles for drug delivery

Abstract

A novel pH sensitive magnetic multifunctional nanomaterial was prepared for sustained release of drugs. Adamantane derivative (ADMA) was covalently attached to the iron (II, III) oxide nanoparticles. On the basis of host-guest interactions, a stable inclusion complex between adamantane and succinyl β-cyclodextrin (CD-COOH) with ionically bonded polyamidoamnie dendrimer was formed. The dendrimer was used as a drug carrier of ibuprofen (IBU) and methotrexate (MTX), model therapeutic agents. In pH 7.4 IBU and MTX were released from dendrimer in sustained manner with Korsmeyer-Peppas kinetic model and case I transport mechanism. In pH 1.2, only a little amount of IBU and MTX was released, while acidic environment contributed to the degradation of the inclusion complex (ADMA and CD-COOH) and thereby releasing of antiviral ADMA drug.</p>
