Evaluation on the reliability of criterions for glass-forming ability of Fe(Co)-based bulk metallic glasses
Abstract
As the reliability criterions of glass forming ability (GFA) for Fe(Co)-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs), the temperature interval of the supercooled liquid region ΔTxg, the reduced glass transition temperature Trg and the parameter γ were evaluated by the linear regression with the critical diameter Zc of rod samples. According to the statistical correlation parameter R2, the reliability of these criterions for Fe(Co)-based BMGs can be expressed as ΔTxg ≪ Trg \< γ, which is very similar with the referenced Zr-based BMGs. Among these criterions, the parameter γ is an universal and the most reliable criterion for the Zr-, La-, Mg-, Pd-, Ti- (referenced data) and Fe(Co)-based BMG systems.
