Directly quenched bulk nanocrystalline (Pr, Dy)-(Fe, Co)-B-Zr-Ti hard magnets
Abstract
<p>Samples of the Fe60Co13Pr9B14Ti3 Zr1 alloy were produced in the form of: (a) ribbons of various thicknesses t by melt-spinning, (b) 1 mm diameter rods and (c) thin-walled tubes of outer diameter (o.d.) 3 mm, both by suction-casting methods. The microstructure of the thick ribbon samples (with t > 100 μm) was shown to be a mixture of amorphous and nanocrystalline phases. Furthermore, the rod and tube samples were nanocrystalline in the as-cast state. Relatively high values of coercivity μ0JHc of ∼0.98 and 1.56 T were measured, respectively, for the tube and ribbon samples. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.</p>
