Materials Map under construction

The Materials Map is still under development. In its current state, it is only based on one single data source and, thus, incomplete and contains duplicates. We are working on incorporating new open data sources like ORCID to improve the quality and the timeliness of our data. We will update Materials Map as soon as possible and kindly ask for your patience.

Abstract

In this work, electrochemical measurements are applied with the aim to obtain detailed information about diethylene triamine (DETA) influence on corrosion of carbon steel in Ethanol-Gasoline Blends (EGB). High corrosion inhibition efficiency of DETA in both E60 and E85 fuels is documented. Significant increase of the inhibitive effect with exposure time suggests steel passivation effect triggered by DETA in EGB. Main factors which facilitate passivation are alkalization resulting from DETA protonation, DETA+ cations bonding of chloride ions in ion pairs and high concentration of dissolved oxygen in EGB. Electrochemical tests show that alkalization has only negligible effect on cathodic process and main cathodic reaction is dissolved oxygen reduction. It is also illustrated that electrochemical measurements can help assess chemical changes in EGB environment due to polarization. © 2022
