SiC-SiO2-C coaxial nanocables and chains of carbon nanotube-SiC heterojunctions
Abstract

The preparation of coaxial nanocables composed of single-crystalline β SiC core and a graphitic carbon outer sheath was discussed. Mass production of nanochains made of numerous SiC-carbon nanotube heterojunctions was achieved by high temperature annealing of the prepared nanocables. The heterojunctions were directly formed from the starting SiC-silica-carbon nanotube nanocables. It was found that the electron diffraction pattern streaking was due to the presence of stacking faults.
