Simulation of Phase Changes During Thermal Treatments of Various Metal Alloys (TP B2)
Abstract

An overview is given on the physical models required and used to predict the phase distribution and precipitation behavior under given thermomechanical treatments relevant for industrial processing. Models for precipitation statistics, multicomponent solute diffusion and phase distribution evolution have been developed and applied to realistic heat treatments of aluminum sheet AA3104, of nickel-based superalloys, and of steel. Selected results are given in order to illustrate the usefulness and industrial applicability of the models.
